Fieldbook
A simple, vintage-styled task tracker that lives entirely in your browser. Track work, due dates, customers, protocols, people, and subtasks — no account, no server.
Version 2.3.8
- Fixes a data-loss bug where restoring a backup silently dropped a task's attached links
- Added test coverage for backup restore, corrupt-storage recovery, and storage-quota failure so cross-device sync is safer for teams
Your work, in one tidy field notebook
Fieldbook is a single self-contained web page. Download it once, open it in any browser, and start adding tasks. Everything you enter saves automatically — privately — in that browser. There's nothing to sign into and nothing sent anywhere.
Everything you need to stay on top of it
Tasks, subtasks & time
Quick-add a task, break bigger work into ordered subtasks, and log the time you spend — on a whole task or each subtask.
Due dates & priorities
Set due dates with a themed calendar and flag High / Medium / Low. Overdue work is highlighted.
Customers & protocols
Link tasks to a customer and protocol. Fieldbook keeps each protocol tied to its customer.
People
Note who a task is assigned to and who requested it — right down to individual subtasks.
Backup & restore
Save a backup file to your Desktop as a safety net, and restore it anytime you need to — like on a new machine.
Share & focus
Hand a single task to a coworker as a file, and switch to Focus mode for distraction-free work.

Download
Click Download Fieldbook. The Fieldbook-vX.Y.html file lands in your Downloads folder — the easiest place to keep it.
Open it
Open it straight from your Downloads folder — double-click and it opens in your browser. No installation, and no need to move it.
Add tasks
Type a task name, press Enter, and you're tracking. Add details only when you need them.
Tip: Work from the copy in your Downloads folder — that's where your tasks are saved, so always reopen the same file. When a newer version is out, the in-app Updates button downloads it to that same Downloads folder; just open the new file from there and your tasks come right across. Keep a Backup on your Desktop at the end of each session — that's your safety net, and you can Restore from it if you ever need to.
A few things to know
- No account needed. Fieldbook never asks you to sign in or connect anything.
- Your data is local. Tasks are stored in the browser, tied to the copy of the file you opened — they aren't shared or uploaded.
- Work from your Downloads folder. Open the file right where it downloads and keep using that same copy — no need to move it.
- Updating? New versions download to your Downloads folder too — just open the new file from there and your tasks carry straight over.
- Back up to your Desktop. At the end of each session use Backup and save it to your Desktop. It's your safety net — Restore from it if you ever need to, like switching machines or clearing your browser.
